Featured Manga: Vagabond

Summary by Mangafox!

Based on the book "Musashi" by Eiji Yoshikawa, Vagabond is an award-winning, fictional retelling of the life of Miyamoto Mushashi, often referred to as the "Sword Saint" - perhaps the most famous and successful of Japan's sword fighters. Shinmen Takezo is destined to become the legendary sword-saint, Shinmen Takezō also known as Miyamoto Musashi, perhaps the most renowned samurai of all time. For now, Takezo is a cold-hearted killer, who will take on anyone in mortal combat to make a name for himself. This is the journey of a wild young brute who strives to reach enlightenment by way of the sword - fighting on the edge of death.

Musashi, as he is often simply known, became legendary through his outstanding swordsmanship in numerous duels, even from a very young age. He is the founder of the Hyōhō Niten Ichi-ryū or Niten-ryū style of swordsmanship and the author of The Book of Five Rings a book on strategy, tactics, and philosophy that is still studied today.

The manga, Vagabond, won the Grand Prize for manga at the 2000 Japan Media Arts Festival, the 24th Kodansha Manga Award, as well as the Tezuka Ozamu Cultural Prize.

Featured Manga: Gintama

Summary by Mangafox!

The story focuses on an eccentric samurai, Gintoki Sakata, his (partial) apprentice Shinpachi Shimura, and a teenage alien girl who's from one of the strongest races in existence: Kagura. All three are "free-lancers" search for work in order to pay the monthly rent, which usually goes unpaid anyway. The story takes place in the Edo Period, but instead of the Europeans invading in the late 1860s they are invaded by aliens, which they call Amanto. It's funny, and worth reading just for the laughs. This manga has a plot with no bounds, it can go anywhere with it, and it does, comedy and seriousness from time to time to make this a MUST read.

Featured Manga: Beelzebub

Summary by Mangafox:

The strong delinquent Oga (nicknamed Ogre, Demon, or "it'd be alright if he'd just die" by other delinquents) picks up a baby that turns out to be the son of the Great Demon King! Chosen to raise the baby until he's in age of destroying mankind, together with the demon maid Hilda, they're sure to make mankind die... of laughter!

The story follows his life with the child and at the delinquent school. Oga attempts to "pass on" baby beel to other students at Ishiyama. If Oga can find someone more evil and stronger than him, Baby Beel will attach to that person instead of Oga. After subsequently fighting and defeating all members of the Tōhōshinki and in the process, destroying Ishiyama High itself, Oga and company are transferred to Saint Ishiyama Academy, which appears to be a direct opposite of the delinquent school - and it's there the real story begins.

I really recommend this series, currently is one of my favorites mangas :3
